Who is your daddy, and what does he do? In FUBAR, Arnold Schwarzenegger is a retired CIA agent pulled into another mission that changes everything he knows about the apple of his eye. Loosely based on 1994’s True Lies, today’s FUBAR trailer brings Schwarzenegger to the small screen for an action-packed, eight-episode series.
FUBAR shows what happens when a father and daughter discover their relationship is a lie and they are each CIA operatives. As the two join forces, the eight-episode series will depict themes of family dynamics with humor, action, and spies.
Netflix’s FUBAR trailer offers a hilarious look at Schwarzenegger – who is 76 years old – getting back to his action roots. While Barbaro does most of the heavy lifting in the hand-to-hand department, Arnold still displays his chops while dispatching goons like a pro. There’s also plenty of humor throughout the series, with the daddy/daughter duo bickering about poor life choices and co-workers razzing Schwarzenegger about his relationship aspirations. There’s also a bit involving a lipstick vibrator that makes me laugh harder every time I see it.
Monica Barbaro (Top Gun: Maverick) stars alongside Schwarzenegger, with Jay Baruchel, Fortune Feimster, Milan Carter, Travis Van Winkle, Gabriel Luna, Andy Buckley, Aparna Brielle, Barbara Eve Harris, and Fabiana Udenio. Arnold will be executive producing alongside creator and showrunner Nick Santora.
“Everywhere I go, people ask me when I’m going to do another big action comedy like True Lies. Well, here it is,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement. “FUBAR will kick your ass and make you laugh — and not just for two hours. You get a whole season. It’s been a joy to work with Nick, Skydance and Netflix to give my fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for.”
