Full trailer for Divergent is here! Is this the next Hunger Games?

JoBloJoBlo

Here we have the full trailer for DIVERGENT, starring Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet and Theo James. The film is based on a crazy popular Young Adult book series by Veronica Roth and while it may be easy to deride it as a blatant HUNGER GAMES wannabe, well… this trailer won’t silence any critics. That said, the preview should have no problem bringing delight and anticipation to the title’s legion of fans.

As an outsider getting a peek at the film for the first time, it looks strangely bland, especially in contrast to the vivid visual style and scope of THE HUNGER GAMES films. And if I hadn’t read the synopsis, the storyline would still be rather vague. (Other than the tale centers on a young woman in a futuristic society who has to undergo training in order to determine a destiny she’s not prepared for. That much is apparent, and I suppose that’s all that matters.)

To clear up any confusion about said storyline, here’s the official synopsis:

In a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities, Tris Prior is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.

Directed by Neil Burger, DIVERGENT also stars Ray Stevenson, Mekhi Phifer, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Zoe Kravitz and Tony Goldwyn.

So what do you think? Does DIVERGENT look like a winner to you? Or are you planning to… diverge from it when it hits theaters March 21st?
