DCEU to DCU
James Gunn recently wrapped on his upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow. With Superman, Supergirl, Peacemaker, Lanterns and even Blue Beetle, the new DCU has been pretty established. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a smooth transition for the actors when Warner Bros. decided to reboot the cinematic universe with James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over. According to former Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, they didn’t relieve her of the character cleanly. “They told me the opposite,” she said. “They were like, ‘We’re going to develop it with you.’ But I saw the way everybody else was handled, right? The Henry situation was not handled elegantly, to say the least. Same with Patty [Jenkins]. [It] was not handled elegantly.“
Infinite Worlds
Even with the new DCU rolling along, there are still side projects that aren’t involved with the bigger universe, like the parallel Batman movies with Matt Reeves’ The Batman and even the Joker movies. Zack Snyder fans have always been adamant about their demand to reinstate the Snyder-verse and with all the studio politics with Warner Bros. and Paramount and DC, Gadot could always be faced with the possibility of returning as Wonder Woman.
We recently caught up with Gadot while she promotes her new Prime Video movie, The Runner, and we asked her, with all the craziness happening with the studios, if Snyder came back to DC, would she also return? Gadot replied,
If Zack comes back to run DC, I’ll come back.”

Meanwhile, you can check Gadot out in The Runner. Our Alex Maidy gave it a lukewarm reception with a 6/10 review, saying, “While the real-time element of the plot is used to varying degrees of success, The Runner ultimately stumbles and falls short of keeping pace through to the finish line. The first ten and final fifteen minutes of the film weaken what could have otherwise been a much more intense thriller. Damian Lewis is underutilized and could have made Caller into a much scarier antagonist. Gal Gadot goes all in, and her physical effort shows, but The Runner is just not as strong as it could be, especially when it falls into the familiar elements we have seen so many times before.”
