The 80's slasher themed season of the hit horror anthology series AMERICAN HORROR STORY aka AHS: 1984 hit FX back in September. And today we have word that FX has renewed the anthology series for another three seasons.
Chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions says:
Ryan and Brad are the undisputed masters of horror TV, having created the anthological limited series with American Horror Story and sustaining its success for nearly a decade as FX’s highest-rated series. We are grateful to them and Dana Walden and our studio partners for committing to another three years. AHS has showcased a wealth of award-winning actors since day one and we appreciate the contributions of everyone, including Ryan, Brad and fellow executive producers Tim Minear, James Wong, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Bradley Buecker, the writers, directors, cast, and crew for each new, unforgettable installment of American Horror Story.
Creator Ryan Murphy recently teased that the show's theme has flirted with aliens and space, and fans have always wanted AHS: SPACE.
Murphy says:
There’s a couple of areas. Every season by Halloween, I come up with what the winner (theme) is and I already came up with an idea for season 10. There’s always the runner-ups, and I’m like ‘Hmm could this be something?’ We flirted with aliens, we flirted with space, we flirted with some things that were more interesting than others. I think that at the heart of it, it’s always about Americana.
He continues:
It would be hard to do something like that idea you mention, not that I wouldn’t. The fans write in what they want, and they’re very excited about the Coven stuff and the aliens in season 2. They’ve always wanted something in space. It’s always a mysterious process of how I come up with the idea. I really don’t even understand it. I have a list of finalists on a piece of paper and I work on all of them. It’s just where is my life when I’m working on them.
