I'm not generally a fan of the films of director Gaspar Noé, but the man certainly knows how to capture some stunning visuals, an ability that will serve him well on his latest project, a drug-fueled plunge into Hell called PSYCHÉ.
Tax Shelter Belgium is funding PSYCHÉ, which may already be in the can – it had a fifteen day production schedule that was set to last from last month into this month. There's no cast information available yet, but we do have a plot synopsis:
In the mid 90’s, 20 urban dancers join together for a three-day rehearsal in a closed-down boarding school located at the heart of a forest to share one last dance. They then make one last party around a large sangria bowl.
Quickly, the atmosphere becomes charged and a strange madness will seize them the whole night. If it seems obvious to them that they have been drugged, they neither know by who nor why. And it’s soon impossible for them to resist to their neurosises and psychoses, numbed by the hypnotic and the increasing electric rythm of the music… While some feel in paradise, most of them plunge into hell.
I'll check PSYCHÉ out when it's release, even though I really don't expect to enjoy it. It will be interesting to see how Noé will bring a story like that to the screen.
The director's previous credits include IRREVERSIBLE (pictured), ENTER THE VOID, and LOVE.
