While PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES will have a host of new characters like Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Angelica (Penelope Cruz) and Scram (Stephen Graham), it’s nice to see some familiar faces will be back. Both Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom won’t be returning for the fourth film but Disney has just announced that Geoffrey Rush will return as Captain Barbosa. Rush will be one of only three actors, along with Johnny Depp and Kevin McNally (Gibbs), who will have appeared in all four films.
Just yesterday we speculated that PIRATES 4 might be delayed because of Depp’s desire to take a break in between filming on THE TOURIST, which he and Angelina Jolie just wrapped, and STRANGERS TIDES. But in Rush’s casting announcement, they’re still sticking with the news that filming is set to begin later this month in Hawaii. No breaks for you, Johnny Depp!
