In one of the more unique ways of releasing a film unto the masses, George A. Romero’s SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD has been available for the Video On Demand audience since April, and will be released in limited theaters this Friday, May 28, 2010.

But if you don’t have On Demand, and you don’t want to see this bastard in theaters (because it blows donkey balls), then there’s hope for you yet, as Magnolia’s Magnet Releasing revealed today that SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD will be hitting Blu-ray in a all-new, never before seen Ultimate Undead Edition on August 24, 2010!

I’m surprised they’re waiting almost 3 months after it’s theatrical release to unleash it on Blu-ray, but maybe that time will allow people to forget all the bad word of mouth this film has, and therefore be more down to own this sucker on Blu-ray. I stress maybe though, because the word of mouth on this bitch is not good

No details have been released just yet (even the Blu-ray cover used here isn’t official), but you can PRE-ORDER YOUR VERY OWN COPY RIGHT HERE to ensure your copy arrives at your house on August 24th.

Mark your calendars for SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD on Blu-ray, rent it now on Video On Demand, or check it out in theaters this Friday, and stick around for more details on the Ultimate Undead Edition as we hear it!

Awesome zombie action not seen in SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD.
