Just a few days after announcing its cast for its 2009 animated film MONSTERS VS. ALIENS, DreamWorks has announced its cast for its 2010 effort HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON. Gerard Butler and America Ferrara join Apatow veterans Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel and Christopher Mintz-Plasse in the cartoon based on the Cressida Cowell kids novel. The film will follow a young Viking who, along with the other Viking teens, must pick his dragon from the “Dragon Nursery.” His dragon is particularly stubborn and gives the young boy trouble as they begin to work together. Peter Hastings, a former writer and producer for “Animaniacs” and “Pinky and the Brain,” will direct for the studio. Like MONSTERS before it, DRAGON will also be released in “Ultimate 3-D” and as we told you from ShoWest, expect all of DreamWorks’ future releases to be in 3-D. DRAGON is already set for a March 26th, 2010 release date, joining SHREK GOES FOURTH as DWA’s animated films for 2010. Ben Stiller’s animated film for DreamWorks MASTERMIND is also tentatively scheduled for fall of 2010 making that three animated films in one year for DreamWorks.
