Amazon’s God of War production

The anticipated God of War live-action series from Amazon has been dealt a huge blow to production. The show had kicked off the start of filming around five months ago. Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios would even drop a little image preview of the main characters from the series. The first look picture would turn out to be a bit divisive, but fans would cautiously wait for footage. Amazon MGM and Sony Pictures Television are working with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions on the show. Additionally, Amazon had revealed that the adaptation had already received a two-season order.

Ryan Hurst gets injured

It is now being reported that the show’s star would suffer a serious injury on set. According to Deadline, Ryan Hurst, who had been cast in the lead role of Kratos for the series, had torn his bicep while performing a stunt and has since undergone surgery. Hurst is currently in recovery, but in the aftermath of these circumstances, Amazon has made the tough decision to recast the Kratos role on the show. This unfortunate turn of events comes after Hurst had transformed his body by adding 40 pounds of muscle after months of intense preparation.

Due to the stunt mishap, production was immediately paused and it currently remains on hiatus. It is not known how long Hurst was said to be in recovery, but bicep surgery repairs are usually projected to need a four to six-month healing period and regaining full strength can take a full year. Amazon made sure that Hurst’s health was the first priority. However, after the initial smoke had settled, the studio came to the realization that the production schedule was unable to accommodate such a delay and given the physicality of the project, it wasn’t deemed safe for Hurst to return.

Amazon plans to prep their restart to production in mid-August and aims to film again in mid-October.
