Godzilla will battle Mothra, Rodan & King Ghidorah as sequel starts shooting

Okay so here is the deal. We just got word that Michael Dougherty’s GODZILLA sequel has started filming in Atlanta, GA. today. Which is great news, I love to hear when a movie actually goes into production. That said, the press release didn’t name the film as GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS. The release seemed to actively find any and everything else to call it other than GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, so perhaps that has been a working title until now.

Anyway, this is all unimportant in the broad scheme of things because within the press release was confirmation on who Godzilla will be fighting in the new movie! And it’s not just one monster, or even two, but the big man himself will be taking on three separate monsters in the new sequel! (Which might not be the biggest surprise if you saw the very end of KONG: SKULL ISLAND.)

GODZILLA 2 synopsis via press release:

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Now, this seems too good to be true so we will keep an eye out for updates on the film. One way or the other the film is currently before cameras and so that means maybe we will start seeing some set photos by the cast and crew soon. Make sure to keep up to date with us here at AITH because we will be searching for any new info on the filming.

In the meantime, let us know how excited you are about Michael Dougherty’s new GODZILLA movie on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
