Godzilla: King of the Monsters will feature practical monster FX

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

It was only a few days ago we shared the awesome news that LAST ACTION HERO and GAME OF THRONES star Charles Dance was joining the cast of Michael Dougherty's upcoming creature feature GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS.

Today we have even cooler news as it turns out the new GODZILLA movie will feature practical monster FX! Co-writer/director Michael Dougherty was recently asked on Twitter if the film was going full CGI (you never go full CGI) or if the film was going to showcase some practical effects this time around.

Here is what Dougherty tweeted back:

Pretty cool, right? Now it's not like Gareth Edwards film didn't feature some practical effects (at least I assume it did…) but all the same, I am excited as hell to see what Dougherty has up his sleeves as the practical FX used in TRICK R TREAT and KRAMPUS were f*cking stellar.

We'll let you know more about GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS practical FX when we hear more. Until then, let us know what you think of practical vs CGI FX on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS is directed by Michael Dougherty from a script by Dougherty and Zach Shields and stars Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, and Charles Dance.

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS is slated for release on March 22, 2019.
