When THE LODGE, the new film from GOODNIGHT MOMMY directors Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz, was released in theatres in New York and Los Angeles back in February, the plan was for the theatrical release to expand in stages over a period of weeks. Theatres across the country started closing not long after that, so THE LODGE didn't have the chance to play on many screens. Thankfully, a wider audience will soon have the chance to watch this film, which our own Chris Bumbray gave a 9/10 review.
It has been announced that THE LODGE will be available to own on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital as of May 5th. Copies can be pre-ordered at THIS LINK.
Described as a "bone-chilling nightmare", THE LODGE follows
a family who retreat to their remote winter cabin over the holidays. When the father (Richard Armitage) is forced to abruptly depart for work, he leaves his children, Aidan (Jaeden Martell) and Mia (Lia McHugh) in the care of his new girlfriend, Grace (Riley Keough). Isolated and alone, a blizzard traps them inside the lodge as terrifying events summon specters from Graces dark past.
Fiala and Franz wrote the screenplay with Sergio Casci. The film was produced by Aliza James, Simon Oakes, and Aaron Ryder, with Paul Barbeau co-producing and Ben Browning and Marc Schipper serving as executive producers.
I've been looking forward to watching THE LODGE, but didn't have the opportunity to see it in a theatre. It's good to know I'm going to be able to watch it in just two weeks.
