The anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI is so thick that you can literally smell the gun oil, stacks of cash, and re-branded scent of Red Zone Swagger Old Spice body wash. For what feels like forever, gamers have wondered when the game’s actually coming out, and when they can fork over their hard-earned cash for pre-orders. Well, that day is coming, as Rockstar Games revealed the official pre-order date and cover art for Grand Theft Auto VI in a new teaser earlier today.
I won’t keep you in suspense. The pre-order date for Grand Theft Auto VI is next week, June 25, on digital storefronts and other select retailers. The actual game comes out on November 19, 2026. In addition to the pre-order date reveal, Rockstar Games debuted the official cover art for Grand Theft Auto VI, and boy, is it pretty!
While we still haven’t seen a more robust trailer for the game, rumors are swirling that one could arrive sometime in July. GTA VI is easily the most anticipated game of the year for many, including fans and game industry leaders alike. What will the game cost? That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? Some speculate that Grand Theft Auto VI could set the base game back $80, though Rockstar continues to play coy about its price tag. Others say the game could cost as much as $100 for the core experience, but again, we don’t know. Other versions of the game will be available, including special editions and possibly one that lets you access it a few days early.
When asked about how much Grand Theft Auto VI will cost, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told IGN: “Our job is to make the best entertainment on earth and that’s true across the board…If you give people what they want in the entertainment business, they will come out for it. But I am sensitive to the fact that so many people are facing economic challenges.”
Zelnick continues: “In real dollars, the cost of frontline video games has declined materially in the last 30 years. Frontline prices have not gone up very much even in the context of inflation. But from our point of view around here, what we can do to make a difference is always deliver an experience that is so much better than what people pay for, that they’re thrilled to buy our titles.”
We’ll know the price in a few days. Until then, let today’s news be a reminder that GTA VI will launch this year, leaving many titles in the dust as it redefines the gaming experience, or so Rockstar hopes.
