Guillermo del Toro developing Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark film

Guillermo del Toro has a lot on his plate. In addition to a potential PACIFIC RIM sequel, he is also working on the Netflix animated series Trollhunters and in talks to direct a FANTASTIC VOYAGE remake.

But here comes the most exciting news yet. Del Toro is currently on board to develop SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK for CBS Films. An adaptation of the classic children's horror trilogy by Alvin Schwartz that was released upon unsuspecting libraries in '81, '84, and '91, it is unclear whether the film will be an anthology or an adaptation of a particular story. Personally, I hope "The Big Toe" makes it in somewhere.

Del Toro might also direct, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. He has a habit of projects falling through, so I'll believe it when I see it. However, he's always been a fan of the series (and in fact owns ten original illustrations from it), so seeing how he would interpret the beloved, stylized world could be a real treat.

Del Toro is producing with Sean Daniel, Jason Brown, and Elizabeth Grave. More on this story as it is unearthed!
