Halle Berry says she would “absolutely” return as Storm in the MCU

Halle Berry is expressing that she would be open to returning as Storm in a future MCU X-Men project. The actress first played the role in the first X-Men film released in 2000.

During a chat with “Vanity Fair“, Berry revealed that she would “absolutely” be willing to return as Storm if the MCU would have her. Berry says that she enjoyed her time playing the character and she would love the chance to revisit her. Here is what Berry had to say:

“I would absolutely return to it, it’s a beloved character, I loved playing Storm, and people love Storm. So, I would absolutely, you know, if we could find a version that would make sense, or a storyline that would make sense, I would absolutely do that, for sure.”

Berry played the role four times beginning with the 2000 film and concluding with 2014’s generations-crossover X-Men: Days of Future Past. Berry’s tenure with the character was a bit mixed but I wouldn’t entirely blame that on the actress. The character, who has the ability to control the weather, was underutilized in the first film, although the display of her power was featured in some of the film’s more pivotal action scenes. The actress adopted an African accent for the role, to stay true to the character, but it was criticized a bit by critics. Her best showing, for me, came in 2003’s X2: X-Men United. The accent was dropped, Berry seemed more confident in the role and she was given a bit more to do. X2 is widely considered one of the better comic book films of all time as it figured out one of the better ways to utilize its hefty ensemble cast while also telling a pretty compelling story.
