Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda to produce epic fantasy Kingkiller Chronicle

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

While I know it's internet suicide to dislike HAMILTON, I'll still give creator Lin-Manuel Miranda this: the music may not be my cup of tea, but I can't deny it's catchy as hell (also he seems like a super chill dude). So with his involvement in the delightful MOANA, the upcoming LITTLE MERMAID remake, and the MARY POPPINS sequel, it seems the sky is the limit for him.

With that in mind, it's not surprising that his next project is going big. Like really big. Reportedly, Manuel is going to be a creative producer on the adaptation of the epic fantasy novels KINGKILLER CHRONICLE from author Pat Rothfuss. Spanning three books, and selling over ten million copies each, the story of KINGKILLER CHRONICLE follows:

Kvothe, a magically gifted young man and famous musician who grows to be the most notorious wizard his world has ever seen

Lin-Manuel, who will also produce original music for the film, had this to say about the novels:

Pat Rothfuss' Kingkiller books are among the most read and re-read in our home. It's a world you want to spend lifetimes in, as his many fans will attest. Pat also writes about the act of making music more beautifully than any novelist I've ever read

While I've never heard of the novels, I can't deny I'm a bit intrigued. I love epic fantasy, and adding a musical bent to it could be interesting.

Meanwhile Lionsgate, the studio behind the adaptation, will be producing a drama TV series alongside the film (not too dissimilar to plans for the DARK TOWER adaptation) that will expand its scope outside the book's narrative.

So what do you guys think? Any fans of HAMILTON? And if so, you excited for an epic fantasy from Lin-Manuel?
