Han Solo and Dryden Vos featured in new Solo: A Star Wars Story images

Although I'm still keeping my expectations in check, the more we see from SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY, the more I'm inclined to believe that it will, at the very least, be an entertaining ride. With the release quickly approaching (even quicker if you count its May 15th debut on the Cannes Film Festival) we're in the midst of seeing much from the Ron Howard film, and Empire has revealed two new images from SOLO featuring Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) and Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany). Let's check 'em out!

Originally portrayed by Michael K. Williams before the reshoots necessitated that Paul Bettany step in as his replacement, Dryden Vos is "being touted as Solo’s main villain, a facially-scarred “big-shot” criminal overlord who recruits a crew of reprobates for a heist." You may notice the Mandalorian armour displayed behind Vos, which probably explains the familiar looking silhouette in a previous image of the same location which had fans thinking that Boba Fett would be making an appearance.

One of the biggest action-sequences in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY involves a heist on a high-speed train on the snow-battered planet of Vandor, which we've seen teased again and again in the various trailers, and according to SOLO co-writer Jonathan Kasdan, it will be a very different kind of action to the epic battles and lightsaber duels which we've become used to. "Part of the challenge is to come up with new, inventive kinds of action we haven’t seen in Star Wars," Kasdan said. "We often referenced Heat and Thief as high-end criminals doing serious jobs that involve guns and big hijackings."

The official synopsis for SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY:

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo befriends his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY will hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
