Solo A Star Wars Story

After Phil Lord and Christopher Miller exited SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY and Ron Howard was brought in to direct the lengthy reshoots, I was quite surprised that Disney/Lucasfilm didn't push the previously announced release date back; after all, these blockbusters take quite a lot of time and SOLO would be arriving just five months after the release of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. However, it seems that the film will have no problem making its release date next month, and Deadline is now reporting that it may even arrive a little earlier.

Deadline says that SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY will be making its debut at the Cannes Film Festival, and although Disney hasn't responded to the claims, Deadline's sources say that the film will premiere in a special screening on May 15th. Ron Howard took to Twitter last week to tease that they were in the final stages of post-production on SOLO, perhaps to ensure that the film would be ready for its Cannes debut.

Starring Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke as Qi'ra, Woody Harrelson as Tobias Beckett, Phoebe Waller-Bridge as L3-37, Paul Bettany as Dryden Vos, and Thandie Newton as Val, SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY will give us an "all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes."

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY will hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
