Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year is Made, writer-director-producer Jon Favreau’s crime comedy, which reunited him with his Swingers co-star Vince Vaughn. The film was Favreau’s feature directorial debut and hasn’t been available on Blu-ray for quite some time. Thankfully, Lionsgate Limited will be giving Made a major upgrade and releasing the film on 4K Ultra HD on September 15.
What’s Made About?
The synopsis reads: “Bobby is a struggling boxer and bodyguard for his stripper girlfriend, but he hates his work and wants to move up. He agrees to go to New York City for his boss to help in the delivery for a money laundering scheme. His partner in crime is his best friend Ricky, an obnoxious loudmouth who has seen one too many mafia movies. Bobby tries to keep it cool and get the job done, but Ricky’s antics threaten to blow the entire situation.“
The film stars Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughn, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Famke Janssen, Faizon Love, and Peter Falk.
This is one I haven’t actually seen (and, to make matters worse, I’ve never watched Swingers either), so I can’t say much about it, but it’s great that the film has been given a 4K makeover so audiences like me can discover it for the first time.

Despite only receiving a limited release in theaters in 2001, Made grossed $5.5 million and received largely positive reviews. It helped pave the way for bigger success down the road, with Favreau directing Elf just two years later. And then, of course, there was Iron Man, which launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Favreau’s most recent film was The Mandalorian and Grogu, which hit theaters earlier this year.
