Hank Azaria’s Gargamel seen searching for Smurfs in New York

JoBloJoBlo

The little blue bipeds known as THE SMURFS are coming to life, quite literally — the movie involves the tiny shirtless dudes (and one babe) somehow crossing from their magical world into our own reality, landing in Central Park.

Which explains why wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria) was recently spotted running around Manhattan. Coming Soon has some clear snaps of Azaria in character as the crusty sworn enemy of the Smurfs, which you can check out HERE.

The live-action/CG blend comes from director Raja Gosnell, who has made the mix of humans and computer-fabricated critters his forte on BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAUA and two SCOOBY-DOO movies. His 3D SMURFS arrives August 3rd, 2011.

The movie features the voice or physical form of Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Anton Yelchin, Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, Paul Reubens, John Oliver, Kenan Thompson, B.J. Novak, Jeff Foxworthy, Wolfgang Puck, Gary Basaraba and Sofia VergaraOHMYGOD.
