Legendary composer Hans Zimmer has written a new version of Netflix's opening theme for use in cinemas.
Netflix asked the film score composer, known for his scores for GLADIATOR, THE DARK KNIGHT, and INCEPTION, to extend and refashion its intro for the theatrical experience. For those that don't know, the three-second 'ba-dm' theme is the signature tone that opens each episode or film on Netflix. The theme is too short for theatrical showings so this is why a longer version was commissioned and assigned to Zimmer. You can give a listen to Zimmer's new version below:
The Netflix "ta-dum" soundmark is one of the all time greats, but doesn't work as well in a theater because it's only 3 seconds long.
So Netflix commissioned Hans Zimmer to extend it for theaters and … it's … so … good.pic.twitter.com/RGw26vCAGY

Leave it to Hans Zimmer to bring a little drama to cinemas. Given that Netflix has premiered a number of films in cinemas before releasing them on their streaming platform, this new intro is pretty necessary for the streaming giant moving forward. Just another step to show that Netflix is very much a part of the theatrical experience.
Do YOU like Hans Zimmer's new 'ba-dum' theme for Netflix?
