As I’m sure you’ve read over a thousand times by now, George Miller is mounting a new $100 million MAD MAX film, titled FURY ROAD. It has widely been reported that Brit Tom Hardy (BRONSON, INCEPTION) was taking over the role of Max Rockatansky; but according to the actor – it’s still not set in stone.

“George hasn’t actually confirmed that,” he revealed to MTV. “It’s strongly coming in my direction. I would be preparing for that role.”

Perhaps Hardy is just covering his bases, but as the interview goes on, it sure sounds as if he’s ready to rumble. “I would have to pick up where Mel left off, but in all honesty, it would be ridiculous to pick up where Mel left off. He is Mad Max. I have to bring something entirely different and new to the stage.”

“The Mad Max figure is a big figure, and I have to get my head around that.”
