Harrelson, Eisenberg, Stone, & Breslin officially return for Zombieland 2

It's been nearly a decade since ZOMBIELAND first introduced us to Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock, and since then, there have been rumblings of a sequel which just never seemed to materialize. That all changed today when THR reported that the ZOMBIELAND sequel is officially a go and that Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin will all be returning to reprise their roles.

Ruben Fleischer, director of the original film, will also be returning to direct the sequel which has been penned by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. Just about the only person who won't be back will be Bill Murray, but be sure to place your bets on how they'll likely try to top that scene with another celebrity cameo. Don't feel too bad for Murray however, as he's set to star in Jim Jarmusch's upcoming zombie comedy THE DEAD DON'T DIE. Production on the sequel is expected to kick off in January 2019 for an October 2019 release. Exciting! "This is one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time – and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse, and Abigail," said Columbia Pictures president Sanford Panitch in a statement. "These are some of the most in-demand actors and I think they are making this movie because they love these characters. We are thrilled Ruben was willing to come back to direct the sequel, as his work on Venom has been truly amazing."

The ZOMBIELAND sequel will find Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin traveling to the American heartland as they "face off against new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors." According to the studio, they'll also find themselves faced with the "growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family." There you have it folks, ZOMBIELAND 2 is actually happening. Are you pumped or should they have left it alone?
