Harrison Ford thinks Ke Huy Quan deserves the Oscar

Indiana Jones may have once insisted that Short Round step where he steps, but now Harrison Ford is standing behind Ke Huy Quan, throwing his support behind his former Temple of Doom co-star in the Oscar race.

In a recent interview with UPROXX, Harrison Ford said that Ke Huy Quan’s praise and inevitable Oscar nomination is “well deserved” for his performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Ke Huy Quan has been earning unanimous praise for his performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once. As of publication, the actor has received Best Supporting Actor honors from numerous critics circles and the Gotham Award in its comparable category, just to cite a small selection. He is nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, the Independent Spirit Awards and the Golden Globes. Undoubtedly, Ke Huy Quan will earn an Oscar nomination when they are announced in January, with many pundits predicting him as the clear winner. One wonders if Ke Huy Quan will thank Ford if he wins the Academy Award. Ford himself was nominated for Best Actor for 1985’s Witness, marking his only nod in 50+-year career.

The bond between Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan has been one of the more uplifting Hollywood stories of the year. In a much-publicized happening, Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan reunited at the D23 Expo earlier this year. Clearly the seasoned Ford still holds much admiration for his former sidekick, making for a charming reunion.

On the event, Ford said, “It was great to see him. I mean…I’ve had the opportunity to see the film. He is really terrific in his movie. And I’m so glad to see him…and what he has become. I’m so happy for him. He’s such a happy guy, too.”

Harrison Ford is earning his own buzz this year, as the first trailer for next year’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrived earlier this month.
