Has Boy Scouts vs. Zombies found a director in Men in Black III scribe Etan Cohen?

It’s been well over a year since we heard anything about BOY SCOUTS VS. ZOMBIES. The comedy-horror script ended up on the Hollywood Black List of best unproduced scripts, and Andy Fickman (RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN) appeared to be in line to direct.

But silence overtook the project, and we’ve been in the dark since. However, today brings an update that indicates the BOYSCOUTS will live to fight another day. According to the Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Etan Cohen may make his directorial debut on the film.

Cohen is one of the hotter scribes in town; he’s Ben Stiller’s go-to script doctor, having worked on TROPIC THUNDER and MADAGASCAR 2. He was also the first (in a long, long line of writers) to toil away on MEN IN BLACK III, and has about a million projects in development. Cohen will rewrite the BOYSCOUTS VS. ZOMBIES script with Lona Williams (DROP DEAD GORGEOUS).

Even though the title pretty much says it all, BVS is a GOONIES-esque tale, which centers on a boy scout troop that must save their female counterparts when a campground is overrun by deadly zombie scourge.

More on this as we hear it…
