Has Dylan McDermott revealed a big American Horror Story Season 3 secret?

After tackling a haunted house and a dysfunctional insane asylum, where does “American Horror Story” go next? Creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck aren’t being forthcoming, as is their way, but a few clues have pointed toward a storyline dealing with the Salem Witch Trials, which would be thoroughly intriguing material for the twisted series. Today, thanks to E! and Dylan McDermott, that rumor has been given a little more credence.

The network grabbed McDermott for a few moments to ask whether or not he’ll be in the show’s third season, seeing how he’s appeared in the previous two. McDermott had no concrete answer to that question (no surprise), but he did have something to add when asked about Kathy Bates’ inclusion on “AHS”.

When the reporter offhandedly mentions that Bates is perfect for the show (which we can’t argue with), McDermott responds:

She really is. All the witches of Salem…there’s plenty of them!”

An odd statement, to be sure, but let’s just focus on the fact that McDermott brings up “witches of Salem” with no prompting. Can we just assume that he let a major plot detail slip? Or is Dylan just talking some nonsense? (And, if so, should we call a doctor for him?)

So far we know that “American Horror Story” Season Three will include Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters. More news as it breaks…
