Hawkeye, spinoff, Echo, series

With WandaVision wrapped up and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier having premiered last week, the small-screen side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is growing quickly, and there are a multitude of new shows in development to satisfy our weekly Marvel desires.

Another new series could be joining the slate of Marvel shows as Variety has reported that the studio is in the early stages of development on a spinoff of Hawkeye that would focus on Echo, a deaf Native American character set to be played by Alaqua Cox in the upcoming series. Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen are said to be attached to write the executive produce the spinoff, with a writers room currently being assembled. Echo's real name is Maya Lopez, and she possesses the ability to perfectly copy another person's movements. Hawkeye is slated to be Alaqua Cox's on-screen debut, so Marvel must like what they've seen to be crafting a new series around her.

Hawkeye will find Jeremy Renner returning as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, where he'll be joined by Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, a young woman who is trained by Barton. In addition to Renner, Steinfeld, and Cox, Hawkeye also stars Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) as Eleanor Bishop, Kate's mother; Fra Fee (Les Miserables) as Kazi, aka Kazimierz Kazimierczak, better known as Clown to Marvel fans; Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul) as Jack Duquesne, an early mentor to Hawkeye; Zahn McClarnon (Westworld) as William Lopez, Maya's father; and Florence Pugh (Midsommar) will be reprising her Black Widow role of Yelena Belova. Hawkeye is expected but debut on Disney+ later this year. The next episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will drop this friday, and you can check out a review of the premiere from our own Alex Maidy right here.
