Helen Mirren is very nervous about appearing in Fast 8

Helen Mirren Fast 8

A little over a year ago Helen Mirren expressed her desire to appear in a FAST & FURIOUS film alongside Vin Diesel, saying "I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. I love Vin Diesel. He’s a great guy, smart — I love him. It’s partly because of him I’d like to be in one, but also the driving." Thankfully the powers that be smiled upon us and just last month, Helen Mirren become the latest actor to join up with the massive franchise. Mirren is set to film her role in FAST 8 later this week but, as she told Entertainment Weekly, she's feeling a little nervous about it.

I’m very nervous, because when you’re going on to a set with people who have been doing this for [so long], basically, they all know each other, they’ve worked together, they know what they’re doing. I’ll be, you know, the newcomer, the newbie. I’ve only got one day, and I’ll probably f— it up, oh God. I think they’ll be nice to me. I hope they’ll be nice to me.

As great as it is to have Helen Mirren popping up in a FAST & FURIOUS film, it's a little disappointing to find out that her role won't be particularly large, but, as there are still two more films in the franchise to go, there's always the chance that there's room for the character to grow. Although Helen Mirren got her wish to appear in a FAST & FURIOUS flick, she unfortunately won't be driving this time around.

I wanted to be driving, but unfortunately, I’m not. Maybe that will come in the future, in Fast and Furious 12.

Helen then joked that "I’m probably one of the few people on the set who knows how to drive a gear shift car. I doubt the Rock knows." You can catch Helen Mirren in all her FAST 8 glory on April 14, 2017.
