Here are new photos of Andy Serkis as Gollum in The Hobbit

Whether or not THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is the first in a trilogy or a duology, I am thankful that the great Andy Serkis has another shot at getting the Oscar he so richly deserves. His turn as Gollum is one of the biggest snubs in recent Academy Awards history.

Seeing Gollum on the big screen again only worries me in one way. With the technological advancements since the first LORD OF THE RINGS films were released, will Gollum look the same? When TOY STORY 3 was released, all of the characters looked better because Pixar took the time to make sure the changes they made were subtle enough that they did not drastically alter how Woody and Buzz looked on the screen. I hope these photos have the answer.

Gollum definitely looks more defined and realistic. We will have to see once the next trailer is released how the movement looks. The first teaser only showed us a fleeting glimpse of him.

Either way, I am glad we are getting more Middle Earth from Peter Jackson. I just don’t know if I can wait until December 14th to see it!
