Here is the first concept art from Jon Favreau’s live action/CGI Jungle Book

While Andy Serkis' JUNGLE BOOK: ORIGINS is now pushing to 2017, Disney will be able to unveil their own live action adaptation of the classic Rudyard Kipling story next year with no competition. The Jon Favreau directed movie has an amazing cast that includes the voices of Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Lupita Nyong'o as Raksha, Christopher Walken as King Louie, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, Bill Murray as Baloo and Neel Sethi as Mowgli.

While the film began production back in August, Disney has just tweeted the first concept art from the film. The image showcases a moment from the animated film that fans of the Disney classic should recognize immediately, albeit updated a bit.

My biggest question about THE JUNGLE BOOK is whether Jon Favreau is going to go with the blatant CGI look of other recent Disney live action adaptations like MALEFICENT, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, and the upcoming CINDERELLA, or if this is going to be as photo-realistic as possible like LIFE OF PI. I would love to see these talking amimals look real and not cartoony, but that may just be me.

THE JUNGLE BOOK is slated to hit theaters on October 9, 2015.
