UPDATE: Deadline has confirmed that Chloe Moretz has indeed been added to the cast of DARK SHADOWS!
Man, Tim Burton’s casting the hell out DARK SHADOWS.
We heard earlier today that youngster Gulliver McGrath had been added to the cast, and now word through the grapevine has it that Hit-Girl herself, Chloe Moretz (above), has joined the cast as well.
Nothing’s been substantiated at this time, but we’ve got a pair of sources to indicate that Moretz will indeed take part Burton’s vampire picture. First, Moretz had this to say to MTV:
“I just booked a huge project last night. You’re gonna die when you find out, it’s huge! It’s big and it’s crazy and it involves some really cool actors. And it’s HUGE.”
Okay, nothing there would indicate her DARK SHADOWS involvement. How about this one, per Bad Ass Digest:
“Chloe Moretz is going to play Carolyn and that Thomas McDonell is going to play “young Barnabas,” which makes sense as he does definitely resemble Johnny Depp…”
Sounds more concrete, ay? Either way, Moretz has proven herself to be one of the best young actresses of her generation, as proven in flicks like KICK-ASS, LET ME IN, (500) DAYS OF SUMMER, and no doubt to be proven even more in Scorsese’s HUGO CABRET. It would be wise for Burton to cast her, if she’s available.
Also starring Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer (below), Helena Bonham Carter, Jackie Earle Haley, Eva Green, Bella Heathcote, Thomas McDonell and quite probably Michael Sheen – DARK SHADOWS was a 1960s TV soap that centered on the 175-year-old vampire Barnabas Collins, sealed in his coffin by his father in 1795 and inadvertently unleashed in the present where he must adjust to an entirely new world while passing himself off to relatives in Collinwood, Maine as a cousin from England.
Confirmation either way is soon to come…
