Happy Tuesday, you filthy animals! Disney+ and 20th Century Studios have released a Home Sweet Home Alone trailer that’s bound to feel familiar for fans of the classic holiday comedy. You might want to put the kettle on and grab a biscuit or two before digging in because this reboot looks very British and delightfully bonkers.

The reboot stars Archie Yates (Jojo Rabbit) as Max Mercer, a mischievous and resourceful young boy who has been left behind while his family is in Japan for the holidays. So when a married couple attempting to retrieve a priceless heirloom set their sights on the Mercer family’s home, it is up to Max to protect it from the trespassers…and he will do whatever it takes to keep them out. Hilarious hijinks of epic proportions ensue, but despite the absolute chaos, Max comes to realize that there is no place like home sweet home.

The film also stars Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Aisling Bea (Living with Yourself), Kenan Thompson (Saturday Night Live), Tim Simons (Veep), Pete Holmes (The Secret Life of Pets 2), Devin Ratray (Home Alone), Ally Maki (Toy Story 4), Chris Parnell (Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues). Dan Mazer (Dirty Grandpa) directs from a script written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell.

The Home Sweet Home Alone trailer isn’t shy about borrowing dialogue and gags from director Chris Columbus’s original film starring Macaulay Culkin, but it also presents some bits that are brand new to the franchise. For example, Max has invented some new traps to keep Kemper and Delaney’s characters from successfully burglarizing his family home. I’m talking about a t-shirt cannon that shoots billiard balls, sling-shot propelled sugar bags and even deadly icicles from above! To borrow an observation from Charles Boyle of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Home Alone is like Die Hard for kids, and this movie looks to be bringing plenty of hurt to the party, pal!

What do you think of the Home Sweet Home Alone trailer? Does Disney have another hit on their hands or should they have left this franchise alone? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
