From one superb show to a potential other…

Per THR, “Homeland” star Marin Ireland (seen above) has been shadowed for “The Following,” Kevin Williamson’s cool looking new serial killer series on Fox.

Word is Ireland will play Amanda, a sweet and simple-minded but fragile woman and will first appear in episode 109, with the potential to recur on the series.

Episode 109? That’s a hell of a commitment by Fox, no? That a typo? I wouldn’t be shocked either way, simply because of Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy’s star casting. This show, despite being on a major network, looks pretty damn promising. And with Williamson’s resume? Forget it.

With Shawn Ashmore, Natalie Zea, Maggie Grace (below) and Annie Parisse also cast:

THE FBI estimates there are currently up to 300 active serial killers in the United States. What would happen if these killers had a way of communicating and connecting with each other? What if they were able to work together and form alliances as they left a trail of blood across the country? What if one brilliant and charismatic, yet psychotic serial killer was able to bring them all together and activate a cult of believers following his every command?

Welcome to THE FOLLOWING, the psychological thriller from creator/executive producer Kevin Williamson (The Vampire Diaries, Dawsons Creek, the Scream franchise).

“The Following” premieres Monday, Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
