After becoming the de facto remake man in Hollywood the last half decade or so, Alexandre Aja is slowly reverting back to the ways we all came to love in ’03. While he’s not going fully original, a la HAUTE TENSION, instead if remaking another film, he’s found middle ground by adapting UNDYING LOVE to the big-screen…

Word comes from Deadline, going so far as to cite Michael De Luca as primary producer on UNDYING LOVE, doing so with Stephen L’Heureux and Benderspink. Aja is only negotiating at this time, but with nothing else slated on his immediate schedule, I can’t see him not taking the gig.

Speaking of, written by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman for Image Comics:

UNDYING LOVE revolves around an ex-soldier who falls for a vampire, though in order to be with her, he must take on her creator, who is protected by an army of monsters in the Hong Kong underworld.

Sounds pretty badass to me, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA style. Not sure that’s a fair comparison, but a man can dream, can’t he.

How about you? Are you familiar with UNDYING LOVE? Is Aja the right man to realize the film version? Who should play the ex-soldier in the film?
