Alien: Covenant sequel would have David vs Engineers on LV-426

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Ridley Scott's ALIEN: COVENANT wasn't quite the return to form that many (myself included) hoped for following his ballsy as all hell ALIEN prequel PROMETHEUS. As much as COVENANT bored me, I was – and still am – such a big fan of both Scott's ALIEN and PROMETHEUS that I'm still holding out hope that the planned new entry in the series was still heading our way.

Well, it looks like Ridley Scott's ALIEN: AWAKENINGS is pretty much dead (but not officially) and today we have word on just what we could have expected to see go down in the new film. In Empire’s new Empire Classics Alien Special issue they revealed that writer John Logan already finished the script and offers new plot details.

Via Empire Magazine:

Logan’s script would have seen the return of PROMETHEUS’ engineers, with that species’ survivors coming after the genocidal David. Setting-wise, Scott said it was obvious ‘we’re gonna actually go to the planet’. By which we assume he means LV-426.

Wait, so you're telling me that ALIEN: AWAKENINGS would have been David vs Engineers on LV-426?! And THAT plot was not given the green light over at Fox? No wonder they sold themselves to Disney… Anyhow, personally I would love nothing more than to see David kick all the ass off all those gigantic engineers with facehuggers jumping this way and that. But I dream.

Starring Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, Tess Haubrich, Uli Latukefu, James Franco, Guy Pearce, Noomi Rapace, Andrew Crawford, and Javier Botet, ALIEN: COVENANT told the tale of:

The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

ALIEN: COVENANT is now available on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD RIGHT HERE. Will we ever actually get to see Ridley Scott's ALIEN: AWAKENINGS – or Neill Blomkamp's ALIEN 5 for that matter? What do you think? Let us know below!
