May 25th marked the 37th anniversary of the release of the Ridley Scott sci-fi/horror classic ALIEN. Nearly forty years later, Scott is in production on the latest installment in the ALIEN franchise, the prequel ALIEN: COVENANT, and just as fans are coming down from yesterday's anniversary celebration 20th Century Fox has given a reason to get hyped up all over again.

An image has been posted to the official Alien social media accounts that shows actress Katherine Waterston, playing the character Daniels, filming a scene for ALIEN: COVENANT. It was captioned: "Nowhere to run." It's a shot taken off of a monitor rather than an actual still, but it's an intriguing first official look at the film's lead and an example of its imagery.

Written by Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan, ALIEN: COVENANT has been said to pick up 10 years after PROMETHEUS to tell the following story:

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Michael Fassbender is reprising the role of David. Also in the cast are Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, and Benjamin Rigby.

ALIEN: COVENANT is set to reach theatres on August 4, 2017.
