Benjamin Rigby becomes the latest addition to Alien: Covenant

With the production start date looming, ALIEN: COVENANT continues to assemble the cast that will be needed to tell its story, which serves as both a sequel to PROMETHEUS and a prequel to ALIEN.

The latest actor to sign on is Benjamin Rigby, a bit of an unknown who has worked primarily in shorts and television up to this point. From Australia, where COVENANT will be filming, Rigby has appeared on the TV drama series Neighbours, as most Australian actors seem to sooner or later, and played a role in the 2015 post-apocalyptic horror film PLAGUE.

Rigby's ALIEN: COVENANT co-stars will include Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, and Michael Fassbender, who will be reprising his PROMETHEUS role of David the android.

Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan have written the screenplay for this sequel/prequel, which has been said to be set 10 years after the events of PROMETHEUS.

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Ridley Scott will be directing the film for an August 4, 2017 release.
