Blumhouse creates new multi-platform label BH Tilt

This is fantastic news. Deadline just got the skinny on a new label out of Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions that is dedicated to generating movies from Blumhouse and other filmmakers for multi-platform release. BH Tilt will kick things off on some solid genre titles, including the CREEP trilogy by The Duplass Brothers, which will be released by RADiUS-TWC. Other titles include MOCKINGBIRD, MERCY, NOT SAFE FOR WORK and STRETCH, which Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release digitally in October. THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN, from director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, will see an October release by the newly revived Orion as well. Not too shabby!

On the expansion, Blum said, “Our company is built on the idea of betting on yourself. As a result of our micro-budgets, we encourage our filmmakers to take risks and make the movies they have always dreamed of making. The purpose of BH Tilt is to be part of the continuing evolution of distribution, whether it be through changing marketing strategies, changing revenue sources or changing windows. We are excited to launch BH Tilt and can’t wait to share these films with genre fans through every means available.” Essentially what this label does is allow filmmakers to create the movies they want and that’s f*cking awesome. Indie films that aren't quite big enough to get a wide release are finding huge audiences through multi-platform strategies as day and date releases, so I can't wait to see what kind of wicked stuff comes out of BH Tilt.
