Christopher Landon is writing the new Paranormal Activity film

Although it was announced eight and a half months ago that Paramount and Blumhouse Productions are developing a new entry in the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY franchise, all we've known about that project up to this point is that it's scheduled to reach theatres on March 19, 2021.

One year out from the release, at least now we know who's crafting the story for the new film.

During an interview on the podcast The Evolution of Horror, producer Jason Blum was asked for a status update on the 2021 PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. Blum replied,

We are doing a new PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. We have Chris Landon, who wrote almost all of them, he directed one of them, he's really kind of the showrunner of the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY series, and he's coming up with PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 7. Which is not the title of the movie, but it is the seventh PARANORMAL ACTIVITY."

Landon previously wrote the second, third, and fourth films in the series, then wrote and directed PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES. So the only ones he didn't have a hand in were the first and the (until now) last, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE GHOST DIMENSION. After his involvement with this franchise, he went on to make movies I enjoyed much more than any PARANORMAL ACTIVITY movie, SCOUTS GUIDE TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, HAPPY DEATH DAY, and HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U.
