Constantine remake on the way!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The Direct reports that there are strong rumors about the development of a new live-action CONSTANTINE film. Reportedly, it'll be in conjunction with J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot, who are also developing the big-budget live-action HBO Max JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK adaptation (of which sardonic magic-user Constantine is a member). However, the exact relationship between the two seems unclear (i.e. if it'll be the same actor, or another version, ala Ezra Miller and Grant Gustin's simultaneous portrayals of the superhero Flash on film and TV, respectively).

There was already a big-budget CONSTANTINE film in 2005 (BUY IT HERE) starring Keanu Reeves in the titular role (whose casting was extremely controversial, as he is neither British or blonde, like his comic counterpart famously was), as well as a live-action TV show starring Matt Ryan (who much more resembled the comics), and who reprised his role in the CW's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW series.

I'm personally excited, as I love the character and the world, and think there was a lot of missed opportunities in the Keanu Reeves film (which I enjoyed, but as a separate thing from the comics as it was so far removed). I'm not psyched about Abrams producing it, but as long as he doesn't write or direct it, I'm hopeful.

So what do you guys think? Looking forward to another CONSTANTINE film? Either way, sound off below!
