David Gordon Green returns to direct back to back Halloween sequels?

Recently we passed along word that it looks like Blumhouse’s HALLOWEEN 2 is gearing up to start shooting after Labor Day with Jamie Lee Curtis returning as Laurie Strode! And today we have an “unconfirmed rumor that’s too damn juicy to ignore” from our buddies over at Bloody Disgusting that claims David Gordon Green (PINEAPPLE EXPRESS) will return to direct, not just one – bit two back-to-back – HALLOWEEN movies that – get this – might be released in the same month!

We previously reported that Universal might release this new HALLOWEEN movie on October 16, 2020. So it's possible we may see both HALLOWEEN 2 and HALLOWEEN 3 unleashed in October 2020. Stay tuned and we will make sure to pass along further word when we hear it. 

Judy Greer and Andi Matichak are expected to return as well. Malek Akkad will produce alongside Blum and Bill Block. Danny McBride will likely return to executive produce alongside Green, Curtis, John Carpenter, and Blumhouse’s Couper Samuelson. 

Here's the synopsis for the recent flick

It's been 40 years since Laurie Strode survived a vicious attack from crazed killer Michael Myers on Halloween night. Locked up in an institution, Myers manages to escape when his bus transfer goes horribly wrong. Laurie now faces a terrifying showdown when the masked madman returns to Haddonfield, Ill. — but this time, she's ready for him.

HALLOWEEN (2018) was directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley based on characters created by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. Malek Akkad, Bill Block, and Jason Blum produced the film which stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, and Virginia Gardner. John Carpenter also provided this new movie's score with the help of his son Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.
