The Shining & Doctor Sleep spin-off Hallorann in the works

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As we all know all too well by this point, Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Stephen King's DOCTOR SLEEP underperformed at the box-office this past weekend. And if that wasn't bad enough on its own, today we have word that Warner Bros. had a spin-off based on Dick Hallorann – simply dubbed – HALLORANN – in the works. Is it still in development? God, I hope so.

The news comes to us from an article over at THR which revealed:

Warners was so keen on Doctor Sleep that movie studio chief Toby Emmerich had already struck a deal with director Mike Flanagan and his Intrepid Pictures to script a sequel whose working title is Hallorann, drawn from the character who appears in both The Shining and Doctor Sleep.

Again, with the disappointing numbers DOCTOR SLEEP put up this past weekend, there is no word on if Warner Bros. still plans to move ahead with the film. Let's all just take a moment a hope that they do. Especially considering that Flanagan was penning the script.

Meanwhile, DOCTOR SLEEP is rated R for "disturbing and violent content, some bloody images, language, nudity and drug use", and runs 2 hours and 32 minutes. Did YOU go see DOCTOR SLEEP in theaters this weekend? What did you think? Let us know below!

The flick stars Ewan McGregor as Dan Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson as Rose the Hat, Kyleigh Curran as Abra Stone, and Carl Lumbly as Dick Halloran. Alex Essoe also stars with Bruce Greenwood, Zahn McClarnon, and Jocelin Donahue. DOCTOR SLEEP is NOW PLAYING. GO SEE IT!
