EXCLUSIVE: The original ending to Guillermo del Toro’s 1997 spook-fest Mimic!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

I loved GUILLERMO DEL TORO’S “Man versus mutated insects” 1997 opus MIMIC. Although the version we saw was not the one he wanted to put out. Ya see, del Toro has since disowned the film after his conflicts with Producer Bob Weinstein on set. The latter kept deviating from the script and forced Guillermo to do changes to the story he didn’t want to do.

And one of them changes was the ENDING of the film. Guillermo’s original cap-off was more downbeat, alas it didn’t test well at test screenings so the Weisteins had the ending re-shot and its that cap-off that is found in the film.

Well today you get to see the real shit. For for the first time online (and anywhere else, I am pretty sure), we have for you the exclusive first look at the ORIGINAL ENDING OF MIMIC. NOTE: The image quality is poor but hey, better than nothing. Check it out below!

In case you need a reminder; MIMIC starred Mira Sorvino, Jeremy Northam, Charles Dutton and Josh Brolin. It was about: Three years ago entomologist Dr. Susan Tyler genetically created an insect to kill cockroaches carrying a virulent disease, now the insects are out to destroy their only predator, mankind!

Thanks to Destro1111 for the hook up!
