First look images: Genre icon Dee Wallace takes on deadly Dolls

Dolls Dee Wallace Cuyle Carvin

"Genre icon Dee Wallace takes on deadly Dolls" is a headline that could have existed in the 1980s, if only the actress who had previously appeared in the horror classics THE HOWLING, CUJO, and CRITTERS had been cast in Stuart Gordon's awesome 1987 film DOLLS - which is, of course, about killer dolls. Wallace missed out on that one, but thirty-one years later she has signed on to take a role in a new horror movie that also happens to be called DOLLS.

The feature directorial debut of actor Cuyle Carvin, this DOLLS was written by Justin Hawkins and Josh Hawkins. The plot centers on

a struggling children's book author and his rebellious teenage daughter, who move into a house they've inherited and find mysterious dolls in the attic. The father and daughter soon learn that the dolls have a sinister — and deadly – past.

Wallace's character is a neighbor who "knows about the dolls and their ties to the house." Her co-stars include Tom Downey, Trinity Simpson, Bret Green, Elise Muller, Melinda deKay, and Robert R. Ryel.

Jeff Miller, who also had a hand in crafting the story, is producing the film with Robert Michael Ryan. Josh Hawkins is co-producer, along with cinematographer Ben Demaree.

Miller had this to say about the casting of Wallace:

It's my second film in just over a year with Dee, and she truly is an American treasure. The work she did in the '80s continues to be seen as classics. I'm so glad we could bring her aboard my friend Cuyle Carvin's first feature."

Work on DOLLS will be complete in early 2019, then Uncork'd Entertainment will be handling worldwide distribution.
