Bong Joon-Ho’s SNOWPIERCER was acquired by The Weinstein Company last fall, with a summer release supposedly in the works, and I cannot wait for it to get here. Combining the considerable talents of Bong (THE HOST) and Park Chan-Wook (OLDBOY) then throwing in an all-star cast is enough to jet this one far up on my “must see” list. We haven’t been able to score too many looks at the post-apocalytic flick, but the first official still has revealed itself today, as has some very cool concept art. Take a look at it below.

In the still, you’ll see Song Kang-ho, who was the lead in THE HOST, carrying along a companion. Not quite sure what’s going on here, but it’s strange and dire, just as I expect the film in total to be.

Snowpiercer is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.

In addition to Song, SNOWPIERCER stars Chris Evans, Octavia Specer, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, Ewan Bremner and Ed Harris. We’ll let you know when it settles on a firm release date.
