A couple months ago, we shared writer/director Dominic Grose's short film THE DRAWING as part of the horror short film showcase we have on the JoBlo Horror YouTube channel (check it out and subscribe HERE). Now Grose is back with a new short called OTHER, and you can watch it in the embed above!
Starring Tom Harden and Deirdre Hume, OTHER has the following synopsis:
A cultist hides a dark secret from his mother within her own house.
Grose said that
“Other” was a short film I have wanted to do for a while as it leans further into what I like about the genre. The slower pace, more coordinated and purposeful shots and a story that hopefully provokes emotions other than dread. This is not a jumpy film like some of my last ones. Whilst I love a well executed jump scare, the films that tend to stick with me are ones that don’t rely on them as much and focus more on creating atmosphere and that’s what I have tried to do here. It of course helps to have naturally talented people around like my best mate and collaborator Tom Harden and my Mum, Deirdre Hume, willing to act in my films. “Other” will also serve as a cousin to another short film I am planning. This next one will be bigger in scope than anything I have made which is daunting but also really exciting as it feels like a next step for me. I’m hoping to shoot that by the end of the year.
