James Wan’s The Conjuring 2 gets a second trailer

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Just under three months ago, New Line Cinema gave us a glimpse of THE CONJURING 2 with the release of the first trailer. With just under three months to go until the film will be reaching theatre screens, a second trailer has been released that provides more details on the story for James Wan's sequel to his 2013 horror hit THE CONJURING

Written by Wan, Chad and Carey Hayes, and David Leslie Johnson, that story is based on

another real case from the files of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.. Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.

Joining Farmiga and Wilson in the cast this time are Frances O’Connor, Madison Wolfe, Simon McBurney, Franka Potente, Lauren Esposito, Patrick McAuley, Benjamin Haigh, Maria Doyle Kennedy, and Simon Delaney.

I loved THE CONJURING and am greatly anticipating this return of the Warrens, but sequels are tricky, it can be tough to make this sort of thing work twice in a row. For example, I didn't feel that Wan was entirely successful with his previous paranormal sequel, INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2. Judging by this trailer, though, THE CONJURING 2 appears to be a fantastic follow-up.

The film is scheduled for release on June 10th.
