Number 9 Films is developing a film based on Peter Ackroyd’s novel DAN LENO AND THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM. Jane Goldman (KICK-ASS) has signed on to adapt the story. The British picture is set up with Film4 and the U.K. Film Council. Here is the synopsis:

The crime story is set against the music halls of Victorian London and follows a Jack-the Ripper-style serial killer nicknamed the Limehouse Golem and the rise and fall of a vaudeville star.

Goldman was able to capture the essence of the comics in the KICK-ASS script, so I think she’s a fine choice to write the screenplay. We’ll keep you updated on this one.

Has anyone read the book? If you’re interested in checking it out before the film is released, you can pick up a copy HERE.
