Legendary Pictures is going ghostbusting with Spectral

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

According to Heat Vision Blog, Legendary Pictures, the production company behind Christopher Nolan’s BATMAN pictures, as well as the upcoming monster pics PACIFIC RIM and GODZILLA, has acquired the pitch for SPECTRAL from up-and-comer Ian Fried. The basic idea here is that it’ll be a “gritty” variation of GHOSTBUSTERS.

The premise of the project is centered on a modern-day, militaristic and gritty approach to fighting the supernatural, with a plot that revolves around a special ops group formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan.

Naturally, as this is a brand new development, there’s nothing much else to report on SPECTRAL. No director or talent of any kind are attached (that we know of), so we’ll have to wait and see what materializes. Since it becomes more and more clear with every day that GHOSTBUSTERS 3 is a pipedream, perhaps the team in SPECTRAL will be who we’re gonna call from now on…
