Machine brings loved ones back from the dead in new trailer for Our House

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Back in February, IFC Midnight snagged the U.S. rights to director Anthony Scott Burns’ feature debut, the supernatural suspense thriller OUR HOUSE with plans to unleash the flick to the masses come July 27, 2018. And today, IFC Midnight just released the new U.S. trailer and an all-new poster, both of which you can check out below.

I'm looking forward to checking out the film, especially considering it stars Thomas Mann (KONG: SKULL ISLAND) and Nicola Peltz (BATES MOTEL). The movie's rather lengthy synopsis goes a little something like this:

A machine that can bring back dead loved ones seems like a great idea…until you unleash the wrong spirits. When his parents are killed in a car accident, science wiz Ethan (Thomas Mann) must leave behind college and his girlfriend (Nicola Peltz) to care for his younger brother and sister. By day, he juggles the responsibilities of raising two kids; by night, he tinkers in the garage on an invention he hopes will change the world: a machine that can generate wireless electricity. He gets more than he bargained for, however, when the device awakens the dead souls that haunt the house. As Ethan and his siblings attempt to make contact with their parents, a horrifying realization sets in: not all the spirits in their midst may be friendly. This hair-raising science-fiction ghost story is a nightmare journey into a past that refuses to stay dead and buried.

That's one hell of a winning synopsis if I've ever heard one. The idea of a young genius basically sciencing the shit out of his house and thus CAUSING it to become haunted is cool as hell. The premise itself is loaded with potential good times and I trust IFC Midnight's judgment on horror films by this point anyhow. Bring it on, I say!

The film is written by Nathan Parker and produced by Lee Kim, Martin Katz, Ulf Israel and Karen Wookey. Executive producers are John Davis, Nick Spicer, Kyle Franke, Derek Dauchy, Noah Segal, Adrian Love, David Kehrl and Reik Moller. The film will be having its world premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal on July 22. Showtimes and further details will be available when Fantasia announces their complete 2018 lineup and schedule tomorrow.

You can check out the new trailer along with the new poster below and then get ready to experience the film in select theaters, VOD, and Digital platforms via IFC Midnight July 27th.
